Wellness with Wildroots

“May you come to know the knots
Of your own making
Your power of reshaping

May you surrender
To the intelligence of Earth
And rise up rooted like trees”
– Rainer Maria Rilke

1180857367It’s hard to prioritize self-care.

You may be swept up in a perpetual motion, never able to steal a moment for yourself.

Others may feel stuck, unable to decide or move on from a failed opportunity.

Even as self-care becomes more acceptable, storylines from past generations tell us that we’re not worth the time or effort to take care of our mental and emotional health.

As women, we’ve been socialized to put others before ourselves and to carry the weight of everyone’s emotions.

We get constant reinforcement for putting our needs, wants, and desires aside. We are expected to put nurturing for others ahead of nurturing ourselves.

Our incredible compassion and empathy are constantly taken for granted. We are told repeatedly through many forms of communication that we don’t belong in certain spaces.

We can look back over a long history of women being dominated, mistreated, oppressed, and objectified. Yes – we are making incredible progress in finding equal footing in our communities. Yes – we are stronger for it. And yes – there is still more to go.

But there remains a strong cultural definition of what it “means to be a woman,” and that doesn’t fit everyone. Even when it does fit, it is continually reconstructed by someone other than YOU.

UnsplashYou need something more.

You’re opened-minded to others’ experiences and are ready to explore mental health through a lens of social justice, intersectionality, and feminism.

Taking care of your body through physical exercise and nutrition is important, and you want to take a step closer to embracing its benefits.

You’re ready to be vulnerable and listen in a group setting (even if you’re not ready to share).

“Mainstream” methods of mental health, such as medication (which can be used in tandem with alternative methods), haven’t helped.

Family, friends, or your partner aren’t offering the emotional support you need. They just don’t understand what you’re feeling.

Imagine being able to share your experiences with other women and gain useful tools to focus on your well-being.

UnsplashLook inwards and create the opportunity to learn about ourselves and grow.

Our Virtual and In-Person Wellness Workshops provide you with the time and space for self-reflection and self-care.

By incorporating mental health counseling, wellness coaching, yoga, astrology, herbalism, and more into our workshops, we address current stressors and explore other ways of healing. That way, we can address what’s holding you back and access self-care from all angles.

Designating time and joining a community may be the only way we unplug, give ourselves time for self-reflection, and connect to others on a deeper level.

Our virtual wellness retreats provide the same sense of community and self-reflection but from the comfort of your couch!

We make it easy to prioritize your mental health needs with integrative therapies you can fit into your schedule.

*We offer our retreats to all cis and trans women and non-binary folks who would feel comfortable during discussions about women’s bodies.

GirlWRC Virtual Retreats

We offer our Northwest-based virtual and in-person workshops to women looking for a safe and encouraging place to prioritize reflection, healing, and personal growth within a supportive community.

Some of the themes we’ll dive into include:

  • Our internal narrative and the storylines we create about ourselves
  • Moving through emotional triggers
  • How we relate to our past and present selves

Let our wellness practitioners guide you on a personal and shared journey of self-care, acceptance, and joy.

Our virtual and in-person workshops give you the time and space to connect to yourself and others.

You’ll get astrological insights, guidance through yoga and breathwork, journal prompts, and perspective from a clinical therapist.

Through our wellness workshops, you’ll set aside the time to:

Define and explore your current identity: What’s our place in society, and how does it impact our identities?

Learn about radical acceptance: Define radical acceptance and how we can practice self-compassion.

Define and explore your future direction/self-care commitment: How do our relationships impact us? What gets in the way of our self-care?

What you’ll come away with:

  • Learn about your “base setting” through your birth chart.
  • Explore the future narratives we’d like to own.
  • Create a practice for self-acceptance.
  • Gain tangible ways to continue self-care routines.
  • Learn coping skills to feel empowered to handle difficult experiences and emotions.
